James Marshall Video Premiere

In a video documentary, the Lambertville Historical Society examines the experiences and impact of a man who experienced a singular moment and lived through an era of transformation, who kept questing on his own terms despite suffering many setbacks, and who helped shape the story of America even though he never meant to. We follow James Marshall’s remarkable life before, during and after the Gold Rush, from New Jersey to the Missouri Territory to Sutter’s Fort and the Sierra Nevadas. The 22-minute video features a rich variety of images; production by acclaimed filmmaker and author Gary P. Cohen; narration and acoustic guitar tracks by Lambertville’s musical hero JB Kline; an original song by local poet, playwright and singer/songwriter Richard Jarboe; and a historically minded soundtrack. It was researched, written and directed by Michael Menche.

Join the Lambertville Historical Society, JB Kline, Gary Cohen, Richard Jarboe and Michael Menche at the premiere, where James Marshall memorabilia from the Marshall House will be displayed.
