An All-Day Celebration of Day of the Dead

11am Begin the celebration with a free event at the Lambertville Free Library, 11am-2pm. Create a Community Altar, enjoy Mexican treats, and make a photo frame for your loved ones. Then head on over to the Acme at 4pm for 2 films.

4pm The Day of the Dead is a time to honor and remember deceased loved ones: a celebration of the memories and bonds that continue after death. In the first short film (15 min), Día de los Muertos: A Day for the Living, filmmaker Trina Bardusco explores the celebration in San Antonio, Texas, as part of the HBO Latino Habla series.

415pm Then stay for a screening of Pixar’s ‘Coco’. Despite his family's generations-old ban on music, young Miguel dreams of becoming an accomplished musician like his idol Ernesto de la Cruz. Desperate to prove his talent, Miguel finds himself in the stunning and colorful Land of the Dead. After meeting a charming trickster named Héctor, the two new friends embark on an extraordinary journey to unlock the real story behind Miguel's family history. Rated PG, 1h49m.

Children are free with each paying adult ($10) for both films.

615pm Afterwards, walk on over to the Dupree Gallery for a reception and view the work of Jacobo and Maria Ángeles, world renowned sculpture artists known best for their fantastical creatures ‘Alebrijes’. Along with several large-scale international installations and exhibitions, their workshop served as Pixar's inspiration for the film ‘Coco’. Small alebrijes sculptures will be on view and available for purchase.
