James Dupree spent 9 months in Oaxaca’s Teotitlan del Valle creating an innovative body of work, Valley of the Gods, reflecting the culture, people and ecology of the region. Join us in experiencing through his eyes this transformational journey and the acclaimed artisans he met along the way.

Alebrijes, Tonas and Nahuales. Artesanos of Oaxaca: Dive into the world of Jacobo and Maria Ángeles, world renowned sculpture artists known best for their fantastical creatures ‘Alebrijes’. Along with several large-scale international installations and exhibitions, their workshop served as Pixar's inspiration for the film ‘Coco’. Short Films on the Art of Natural Weaving: Master artist Bulmaro Perez Mendoza and his family use traditional Oaxacan methods of weaving to create rugs and tapestries designed with mayan patterns and symbols. With techniques steeped in cultural traditions of natural dying, Bulmaro’s artwork is collected and exhibited internationally. Short Film provided by Bulmaro Perez Mendoza. 10 minutes.
